Community Prosecution Unit

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office is proud to introduce another “smart on crime initiative” – the Community Prosecution Unit (CPU).  This unit is made up of five prosecutors and one investigator. The prosecutors do not carry dockets, rather they work with law enforcement and public and private agencies to make Dallas a better place for all of us to live.

Specifically, they are developing and implementing programs that target at-risk youth in our communities. Projects include speaking to students in schools about the functions of the DA’s office, participating in Crime Watch meetings in local neighborhoods, and partnering in initiatives to make Dallas County a better place to live.

This specialized unit enables the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office to become even better involved with Dallas County citizens, and offer support and advice to creating safer neighborhoods. The Unit continues to work with public officials on various criminal complaints in specific parts of the county. This unit is just another way that Craig Watkins is working on his mission to be smart on crime and loyal to victims.

If you would like for the CPU to work with you to present on a special topic that may be plaguing your area or school, arrange a court house field trip, attend a crime watch meeting, or speak to your organization, please contact Rachael Jones, Chief of the Community Prosecution Unit at 214-653-3774 or email her at
