The mission of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Citizen Prosecutor Academy is to enable Dallas County residents to be exposed to the numerous procedures within the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. This will provide Dallas County residents the opportunity to engage in open dialogue with prosecutors and leaders in the community, and discover the practices and methods of the judicial process. Our goal is to inform citizens who will share their experience with neighbors, friends, and family in their communities.
About the Dallas County District Attorney’s Citizen Prosecutor Academy
The Dallas County District Attorney’s (DA) Citizen Prosecutor Academy is an initiative designed to provide a comprehensive educational program to citizens interested in the criminal justice system and the day-to-day operations at the DA’s office.
We are currently accepting applications for the Fall 2014 Academy, which will begin in early 2014. As the Academy continues to grow, the number of interested candidates is rapidly increasing as well. We have capacity limitations and encourage you to apply early if interested.
Each week of the Academy, participants will hear from guest speakers including assistant district attorneys within various divisions/units of the DA’s office and other key personnel in Dallas County’s criminal justice system. Classes will take place once weekly in the evening throughout the duration of the Academy.
If you are interested in applying to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Citizen Prosecutor Academy, please note that there must be an attendance commitment for the scheduled classes in order to graduate from the program. All applicants will be subject to background check.
With the exception of two field trips, the majority of the Academy classes will meet at the Frank Crowley Courts Building located at 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75207.
