Tim Gallagher, Chief, Organized Crime Division
Mr. Gallagher is the Chief of the Organized Crime Division in
the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, where he manages
nine attorneys, four investigators (who are licensed peace officers)
and one administrative assistant. Mr. Gallagher who has been
with the DA’s Office since the beginning of his career
as an attorney in 1989, has numerous accomplishments to his credit
including forming one of the first prosecution units in the Southwest
focusing on Internet crimes against children and child prostitution;
assisting in the development of the investigative scenario and
leading the trial prosecution of the Chen case, establishing
the legal precedent in Texas for undercover police officers to
pose as children on the Internet to investigate the sexual solicitation
of children online; and assisting in the establishment and directing
the activities of the North Texas Identity Theft Task Force. Mr.
Gallagher also previously served as a Special Assistant United
States Attorney in both the Western and Northern Districts of Texas.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Gallagher earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the South Texas College of Law in Houston, and Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees, respectively, from the University of Texas at Arlington. His professional commendations and awards include a commendation from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Resident Agent in Charge, Austin, Texas, for the eight-year investigation and prosecution of a criminal enterprise involved in money laundering and obscenity; commendation letter from the Associate Attorney General of the United States for the ten-year investigation and prosecution of a criminal enterprise involved in tax fraud-conspiracy and obscenity distribution; an award from the Dallas Association for Decency for obscenity prosecution; and a 1998 appointment by the Governor of the State of Texas to serve on the Illegal Gambling Task Force.
Mr. Gallagher is a member of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association and Texas Bar College.
